Photography Project “Warriors of the Resistance”
I have been horrified by recent political events and the subsequent increase and enabling of repugnant societal behaviors, but this phrase in particular (spewed by incels at women) has made my blood boil: “Your body, my choice. Forever.”
That phrase (coined by the far-right, pro-Nazi, internet troll, and all around sleazeball incel Nick Fuentes) encapsulates much of what’s wrong with these far-right fascists: They are actively promoting a misogynistic rape culture as normal and also asserting that they have a right to do as they please to anyone else.
Especially women.
But also LGBTQIA+, people of color, the sick, injured, poor… or anyone that isn’t a privileged white male.
That attitude isn’t open for discussion. It’s wrong, like molesting children is wrong. It’s the mindset of a sick person. And it’s being enabled and even encouraged by Trump and his band of MAGAs who have turned the GOP into a cult of warped neo-christian terrorists, weirdos, fascists, and misogynists.
As artists have done repeatedly through history, it’s time to express my rage with my art and get subversive. I’m beginning my resistance series with this concept, “Warriors”, which is the first in a series of kick-ass portraits of fierce people that are fighting back against this creeping evil.
I’m also reaching out to you my friends for support. If you’d like to portray a strong and fierce kick-ass warrior, I’d love to feature you in this series. Especially if you’re part of these targeted communities.
