(Incept date: 2023.10.27)
Welcome to my landing page for Bose 901/80x information!
The 901 speaker system was produced for almost 50 years, from 1968 to 2017.
Important safety notice (your safety, that is!)
The Bose 901/80x speaker systems are the only Bose products I cover here.
I cover *only* the 901’s, the related adjacent 80x products, and some related company history. I’m not interested in debates or arguments on these systems, nor do I know (or care) about other Bose products.
Be ye therefore warned.
Hey, the Bose 901 Speaker came in a variety of colors!

A German ad showing some of the color options.
Here’s the various Bose 901 pages on my site:
Bose 901 Series – Generational History – About the various versions (or series) of the 901 speaker and the required “Active Equalizer”.
There’s info on the related “pro” version (80x series) at page end.
#Bose802link – Quick jump to specific info on the 80x “Pro” versions, the early 800 and the follow-up 802 series. Again, the required and matching “Audio Controllers” are covered as well.
Bose Active EQ – hookup guide – Various ways to install the “Bose 901 Active Equalizer” into your audio chain. Something for everyone!

No Bose “Active Equalizer”? Or maybe your 50 year old one is acting up?
Or maybe you’d like to add on a subwoofer?
Deer Creek Audio makes an aftermarket line of DSP products with the specialized Bose PEQ curve for the various flavors of the Bose 901 and 80x speakers.
More on this soon!
Daev’s Lab Notebook: a 901 Series VI journey – My lab notebook page.
This page has notes on life with my personal pair of Version 6 901’s. This includes lab tests, listening tests, modifications, some research on various the EQ curves used, and my thoughts and experiences as I play with these speakers.
